Cover page for On The Track Racing Magazine
I am very happy to share one more cover page with my image on it. This time it's the best South African motorsport magazine On The Track Racing, a bi-monthly motorsport magazine available nationally and an independently owned and run publication. The cover photo features Nick De Wit aka Sick Nick, freestyle FMX rider from Muldersdrift, South Africa. This photo is from one of my first photoshooting with Nick back in 2007 in Istanbul, Turkey and those photographs are still being published in magazines worldwide, because of the impact they have on his portfolio.
Nick De Wit was born in 1981 and started riding when he was 15. He just rode for fun for a few years and then was convinced to come and do a race. His first ever race he finished 4th and went on to win the 125B championship 2 years after that. He raced for about 5 years and then he started riding FMX. He's been doing that ever since and pretty well also. He's been SA No1 for most of his FMX career and never lost a competition in South Africa. Other achievments are: First consistent flipper in South Africa, 5th in world rankings in 2006, 4th in World cup in Namibia and Germany and 4th in X Games Dubai best trick.
First African ride to compete in X fighters
‘Sick’ Nick de Wit has dominated the SA freestyle Moto-X scene for the past few years and is currently ranked 5th in the world. He started riding Moto-X competitively late in life, as a geriatric 17 year old, and from there moved into FMX. These days he rides FMX professionally – competing in contests and doing demos around the world. He lives to ride and never gets bored: “Freestyle is a big head game,” he says.
Nick currently rides KTM SX 350 and Travis Pastrana and Jeremy McGrath were his idols. He was also a stunt double in "The Expendables 3". His favourite tricks are Tsunami, Back flip and Rock solid. As part of the FMX4EVER team, Nick travels around the globe to countries such as Brazil, Turkey and Egypt to inspire the public with world-class freestyle motocross.
