I really love to visit and work in Chiba City which is known for its samurai and warrior heritage. The 2017 stop of Red Bull Air Race Championship took place in the Makuhari District, which is located right on the fringes of Tokyo Bay. Amazing location to enjoy every twist and turn the pilots make over the beautiful shimmering water that lies beyond Japan’s biggest artificial marine beach, which spreads over 4km.

Just like previous races, this one also represents a remarkable photographic challenge due to the location itself. The possibilities to photoshoot from the shore are very limited while shooting from a boat with the city in the background creates much different and more interesting photographic view. Moreover, special delight are the angles available from the helicopter which always give unique perspective to the whole race.

The Red Bull Air Race World Championship touched down once again in Japan, in the sprawling metropolis of Chiba City. Chiba is renowned as the birthplace of civil aviation in Japan. Known as the City of Flowers, Chiba is blessed with an abundance of nature, with traditional Japanese gardens and parks peppering the landscape and creating wonderful contrast between old and new.

Fans witnessed home favorite Yoshihide Muroya fight for an amazing win in 2016. and the local hero took the win in Chiba and with Petr Kopfstein collecting his first podium in 2017.
