Since 2002, the FMX elite has been flying through the air consistently at Las Ventas, one of the most famous bullfighting arenas in the world. The sound of wild motors roared through the tunnels around the famous bullfighting arena as the two-wheeled toreros raced towards the kickers at up to 60km/h. The most prestigious and most challenging freestyle motocross competitions once more gave us a real adrenaline rush.

What Wimbledon is to Tennis is the Plaza de Toros in Madrid to FMX. This amazing bullring in Madrid has been the venue for the “Classic Battle” for the last 16 years and it has witnessed some truly titanic head-to-head fights in its time. The location is predefined and Bullring hasn’t changed but the energy that spectators give and the new and almost impossible tricks and stunts that riders perform highly motivates me each time on this photographic adventure.

Levi Sherwood double-backflipped his way into Red Bull X-Fighters’ record books with a pair of the gravity-defying jumps and a powerful performance to win the 16th edition of Las Ventas in front of nearly 20,000 spectators. The New Zealander became the first FMX rider to perfectly execute two double backflip combos in a single run, capping a flawless final to win the sport’s most prestigious competition.
