I had a pleasure of photoshooting the beach volleyball tournament under organisation of Red Bull, along with Swatch, the Swiss watchmaker, and volleyball event promoter Hannes Jagerhofer. After constantly photoshooting various extreme sports this kind of project was something completely different and more than interesting. Main aim for me was to get the photographs done in my way and different than any volleyball images seen so far.
Sun, sand and superb athletes – a recipe for fun and excitement with Swatch!
The Beach Volleyball scene is a natural fit for Swatch, and its long relationship with the energizing Beach Volleyball community is blossoming once again. Swatch is title sponsor for the Beach Volleyball Major Series in 2015, which takes players and fans to three fabulous locations, ranging from Porec, a 2,000-year old harbor town in Croatia to Stavenger on the Norwegian coast and on to the beautiful Alpine resort of Gstaad, in Switzerland. Add in Swatchís support of the CEV European Championships in Klagenfurt and the brandís title sponsorship of the FIVB World Tour Final at the iconic American “spring break beach” in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and the high-energy recipe is complete.
Aside from the entertainment, this yearís FIVB World Tour serves as part of the qualifications for Rio next year. Men and women across the sport are already dreaming about taking part at Copacabana beach in 2016.
Porec is a town and municipality on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula, Croatia, in Europe. Set around a harbour, Porec was founded almost 2000 years ago. Today, the city has a population of around 12.000. The fact that Porec is one of the most-visited tourist destinations in Croatia reflects the popularity of the city, the surrounding region and its outstanding location by the sea. In 2015 the City of Mosaics hosted its first international Beach Volleyball tournament as part of the Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series.
