I am very proud that one of my pictures that I donated to privately funded non-profit organization Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation, was used for the 2011 year’s calendar. January is the month that is represented with this photo of mine, amongst others which are great as well.

The Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation is a privately funded non-profit organization which follows the principal aim of promoting research worldwide in order to expedite scientific and clinical progress towards a putative cure for Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Paralysis. The Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation was founded in 2004 by Dietrich Mateschitz, CEO Red Bull, and Heinz Kinigadner, multiple motocross world champion and KTM sporting director.

With an average age of injury of 33 years and nearly normal life expectancy, there is a steady increase in the number of people affected, and it is estimated that around 2.8 million people live with a Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) by now.
Each year, approximately 130.000 people survive a traumatic spinal cord injury.
Spinal cord injury primarily affects young adults with a ratio of four to one male to female.

Wings for Life Calendar 2011 The time has come…the 2011 edition of the Wings for Life calendar is available. With this calendar you get the opportunity to give a special present to your friends, customers and business partners at the end of the year and in addition to support a good cause. The sales price of the calendar is € 29,90 (incl. VAT). In case of an order of 50 pieces or more, it is possible to give the calendar an individual touch by integrating your own corporate logo. This logo is visible throughout the year, because the calendar pages are designed slightly smaller than the back banner page.

Credist for this calendar goes to Reiter Offset for the free printing and the photographers of the Red Bull Illume photo contest for the free provision of photographic material. Their support permits Wings for Life to invest the net proceeds of this project directly into spinal cord research.

The Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation is devoted to finding a cure for spinal cord injury. By promoting promising medical research projects to regenerate the injured spinal cord, Wings for Life expedites scientific and clinical progress towards a cure for spinal cord injury.

As charitable non-profit organisation, Wings for Life relies on donations. Therefore it is essential to sensitize the public to the topic of paraplegia, in addition insist on the fact that research is the only way to heal it and that money is the limiting factor. Hence the foundation depends on the support of prominent personalities, companies and of course numerous individuals in its public relation activities, in order to raise the common interest for the foundation’s concerns and to generate donations for spinal cord research.

The Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation was approved to meet the scientific requirements and was appointed to become a member of the ICCP, the authoritative head organisation in spinal cord injury (SCI) research worldwide. As one of the 12 members of the “International Campaign for Cures of spinal cord injury Paralysis” (ICCP), Wings for Life attracts attention as a serious, verified and scientifically approved organisation fostering Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) research worldwide.
