With great honour I must say that once more a privately funded non-profit organization Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation used one of my photos for 2013 year’s calendar. Amongst others great photograps, November is the month represented with my photo. The picture is taken on the highest motorable road on the world, Khardung La, India.

The Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation is a privately funded non-profit organization which follows the principal aim of promoting research worldwide in order to expedite scientific and clinical progress towards a putative cure for Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Paralysis. The Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation was founded in 2004 by Dietrich Mateschitz, CEO Red Bull, and Heinz Kinigadner, multiple motocross world champion and KTM sporting director.

With an average age of injury of 33 years and nearly normal life expectancy, there is a steady increase in the number of people affected, and it is estimated that around 2.8 million people live with a Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) by now.
Each year, approximately 130.000 people survive a traumatic spinal cord injury.
Spinal cord injury primarily affects young adults with a ratio of four to one male to female.

As charitable non-profit organisation, Wings for Life relies on donations. Therefore it is essential to sensitize the public to the topic of paraplegia, in addition insist on the fact that research is the only way to heal it and that money is the limiting factor. Hence the foundation depends on the support of prominent personalities, companies and of course numerous individuals in its public relation activities, in order to raise the common interest for the foundation’s concerns and to generate donations for spinal cord research. The Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation was approved to meet the scientific requirements and was appointed to become a member of the ICCP, the authoritative head organisation in spinal cord injury (SCI) research worldwide.
