At the end of every year, and especially during New Year’s Eve, I mostly try to be at home and in my city – Belgrade. After a busy season (in most cases the whole year) it is a real pleasure to be at home with family and loved ones. Traditionally, I have been able to fulfill that for years, so it was the same this year, which is why I am particularly pleased.
Spectacular fireworks and laser shows have been organized at the Belgrade Waterfront for several years now, so it’s a special challenge to photograph it. The spectacle is so magnificent that it definitely belongs to those special New Year’s nights in the whole world.
A special New Year’s projection followed by a game of powerful lasers on the Kula Belgrade served as an introduction to midnight, when the entry into the year 2024 was marked by fireworks from the highest building in the region, the Stari Sava bridge and the Gazela, as well as from the neighboring New Belgrade coast.
The citizens of Belgrade and their guests enjoyed a multi-minute fireworks display of colors, shapes and explosions, which they rewarded with shouts of delight and applause. I came back home with some photos that will forever remain as proof of history and how we entered into New Year 2024!
